Discovery Southeast is proud to recognize Juneau Community Charter School teacher Linda Torgerson with the 2016 Discovery Award for all her excellent work engaging students in nature!

Many of you know Linda’s work first-hand, as she has enriched the lives of so many Juneau students.  Linda is an accomplished classroom teacher at the Juneau Community Charter School who has taken every opportunity to integrate the outdoors into her work.  She collects natural items to share in class, integrates natural materials into art, takes children on hikes, and embraces working with children openly, in a natural environment. Her work with students and mentorship of teachers has instilled an appreciation of nature in innumerable Juneau children.
