Our backyard transboundary corridor.
The standout feature of Taku Province is the river itself, one of a handful of international rivers serving as corridors between coastal rain forest and boreal interior. It’s partly due to this lowland connectivity that Taku Province has 36 mammal species, second only to Chilkat Province in diversity. (Lynn Canal Province is third). It’s also probable that the Juneau area has the highest bird diversity in Southeast (Paul Suchanek, pers comm).
