Click here for online registration for in person programming for spring break.

The snow is plentiful and the promise of spring is just around the corner, what a great time for kids to get outside and enjoy exploring this place together! This year we are offering half day programs in lieu of a weeklong spring break camp to give more kids the opportunity to get out with one of our experienced naturalists. Kids can sign up for a total of 2 slots, which can be a morning and afternoon to make a full day program, 2 mornings, or whatever mix that makes sense for your family.

Group Size

The group size will be 8-12 students of mixed age, and will likely split those groups into smaller teams once we see the dynamic of the group. There will be a chance for siblings to sign up together but also get some time apart to spend with kids their own age. We have found many of the older siblings are looking for a bit of a break from their littles lately!

Timing and Location

Each program is 3 hours long, a morning session from 9-12 and an afternoon session from 12-3. The locations vary each day, we tried to get at least one program at each main area of town to make it easier for transportation. We will meet outside of the school at Riverbend, Sayeik (Gastineau), DZ, Skater’s Cabin, and Fish Creek.

Theme

Our focus for each day will include winter skills and safety, outdoor games, animal signs and tracking, and signs of spring. The plan for the day will be set after we see what the interest and ability of the group as well as trail and natural conditions are. Each program is based around the needs of the kids, structuring exploration and learning around what is happening in nature and what the kids are curious about. We will continue to follow our pandemic protocols which include masks, distance, and small groups. The kids get a lot of mask breaks, and we have found lots of ways to have them play and work together while maintaining distance. It’s pretty special to see them out there together right now, solving problems, asking questions, finding something they have never noticed before. It feels like exactly what they should be doing right now!! Let us know if you have any questions, and make sure to sign up on the wait list if a program is full, we will add new sessions if the groups fill up.
